How to Make Dr. Strange’s Oh For Fox Sake Mug

Diy Dr Strange Oh For Fox Sake Mug

Spider-Man No Way Home is going to show audiences the dynamic between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. In the trailer, Doctor Strange is in casual clothes and holds a mug that says “Oh For Fox Sake”. I thought the saying was kind of funny so I decided to DIY the “Oh For Fox Sake” mug out of cardboard! You can also follow the same steps to paint the design on a white ceramic mug.

It should be a fun movie with lots of cool props, so I am excited for No Way Home to come out! And when it does, I’ll have my very own homemade “Oh For Fox Sake” Doctor Strange mug. 🙂

Steps To Make A Cardboard Mug:

  1. Print out template.
  2. Trace the circle from the template onto thin corrugated cardboard.
  3. Cut out.
  4. Trace the rectangle from the template onto thin corrugated cardboard AND flimsy white poster board.
  5. Cut out.
  6. Take the long corrugated cardboard rectangle and gently bend along the corrugation lines so it curves.
  7. Hot glue this curved piece onto the cardboard circle.
  8. You may need to use some masking tape to hold the curve shut while the glue dries.
  9. Hot glue the white poster board rectangle on top of everything. The ends will overlap a little bit. That is okay. You will glue the handle on this spot later.
  10. Trace the handle from the template onto a piece of flimsy white poster board.
  11. Glue thin strips of cardboard directly onto this tracing.
  12. Repeat until the entire tracing is filled up. Note: The top and bottom layer should be strips of the flimsy white poster board so it looks white.
  13. Use a utility blade to cut off any overhanging end pieces and cut away all of the extra white poster board.
  14. Put hot glue onto the handle where all the corrugated cardboard is still showing, flip over, and glue onto some more flimsy white poster board.
  15. Let it dry and then cut out.
  16. Glue handle onto mug where the seam is showing.
  17. Cut out the image of the fox design from the template.
  18. Flip over the design and, using a pencil, lightly coat the entire backside in graphite.
  19. Tape onto your white mug.
  20. Using a pen, trace over the entire design.
  21. Remove the tape and the design print-out. The outline of the design should be left on your mug.
  22. Start painting. You will need at least 2 layers of paint if you use cheap craft paint like I did. Note: if you paint outside the lines, you can lightly touch it up and make it look neater with white craft paint.
    1. Mix together dark orange craft paint with white craft paint to get a very light shade of paint for the eyes, nose/snout, stomach, and tip of the fox tail.
    2. Use dark orange craft paint to paint the box of the fox.
    3. Use a little brown craft paint for the feet of the fox.
    4. Use a black sharpie marker to go over all the letters, eyes, and nose.
  23. “Paint” over the entire mug a glue that dries glossy (I used Dishwasher Safe Modpodge).
  24. Enjoy!

  4. Tape onto your white mug.
  5. Using a pen, trace over the entire design.
  6. Remove the tape and the design print-out. The outline of the design should be left on your mug.
  7. Start painting. You will need at least 2 layers of paint if you use cheap craft paint like I did. Note: if you paint outside the lines, you can lightly touch it up and make it look neater with white craft paint.

    4. Use a black sharpie marker to go over all the letters, eyes, and nose.
  8. “Paint” over the design in Dishwasher Safe Modpodge. This glue will dry glossy and, once cured for 28 days, it can be used in the dishwasher. The directions on the label say do not paint where food or lips will touch it.
  9. Once the Modpodge has cured, you can enjoy!
